Agriculture of Sri Lanka had long history. In 1153-1186 period 1st
King Parakrama Bahu sponsored a lot for local
Agriculture system. In those period he build up more
than 15 irrigation projects and more than 1000 waterway
systems. In those period Sri Lanka export rice to other
countries. In 1935 lands were given for farmers. With
the time move cultivate rice and other vegetables are
increased. For a example, In 1972 all Island rice
harvest was less than 1.5 million Metric Tons but 1986
it came to 2.5 million Metric Tons.
People of
Alawathugoda village's main income is Agriculture. They
grows not only Rice but also many vegetables, spices,
exporting things and also flowers. Our of those we can
find as main two ways for cultivate. They are
Chena Cultivation and
